Ever since I was young, I loved using my creativity to make others feel something. Whether it was choreographing a dance to perform in front of family members or crafting funny face masks out of paper plates to cheer up a friend who was feeling sad, I was always up to something.
Before arriving at the University of Arkansas, I struggled to decide what I wanted to major in -- should I choose a path of stability in the business world or follow my passion and risk uncertainty and instability? Ultimately I decided to major in Marketing as I assured myself I would be able to have a bit of both in that industry. However, to my dismay, I wasn't able to find the balance I was looking for in marketing positions.
Fast forward to 2018, I came across an opportunity to become a Technical Recruiter for a large IT staffing company in the US. In my interview I told my soon-to-be boss that I was passionate about creativity and that I wanted to incorporate that into my career. He decided to align me to the digital and creative team that focused on needs for UI/UX Designers, Front End Developers, marketing roles, and more.
By working with so many people in the UX Design space, it was incredible that I had never known that such a position existed prior to working as a recruiter. After speaking with so many Designers in my role, I felt envious of UX Designers and what they got to do for a living--designing and creating for people to make their lives a little easier.
That's when it hit me.
THIS was what I was supposed to do.After a year at the recruiting agency, I took the leap and enrolled into a UX Bootcamp. I'm thankful for my ongoing journey, and I am proud to say I now aim to create user-centered designs to make responsive web designs more easy to navigate.
I am a first-generation Asian American who was born and raised in Houston, TX. Throughout my childhood, I was very close to my 30+ cousins, and that still holds true today. Family is the number one most important thing to me.
As for my little family, I met my husband at the University of Arkansas, and we have recently relocated to the Austin, TX metro area. We have two dog children named Charlie and Asparagus (Gus for short) who we love more than anything.
In my spare time, you can either find me hanging out with friends and family, at Chick-fil-a, snowboarding, performing an unsolicited concert in my car, crafting, or watching Harry Potter (shoutout to all my Ravenclaws). I am an avid tea drinker and love connecting with new people.
If you'd like to meet for a virtual coffee or connect with me on Linkedin, I'd love to hear from you!
